How To Play
Cattlers of Satan is a resource-based trading game in which you and your friends become ranchers in hell, wrangling demonic cattle, building ranches, and outwitting your enemies. The game involves strategic placement, resource management, and a bit of luck as you roll dice, trade elements, and navigate infernal challenges to become the top rancher in the underworld.
Each rancher aims to build up their territory by placing herds, fences, and ranches on the board. Your main goal is to collect Steak Points, which you earn by expanding your livestock, using Devil Cards, and achieving special milestones. Every turn offers opportunities to gather the elements of blood, fire, brimstone, iron, and bone; trade with others; and build up your hellish domain. You’ll need to think strategically about where to place your herds and fences, how to best use your resources, and how to thwart your rivals.
You acquire Steak Points in several ways:
Building Fences, Herds, and Ranches: each new structure adds to your total Steak Points.
Playing Devil Cards: some cards offer Steak Points directly or give you powerful abilities to boost your game.
Ranching Rewards: special milestones like the Longest Fence Line and Largest Posse give bonus Steak Points.
The first rancher to accumulate 10 Steak Points on their turn wins the game. It’s all about balancing your element collection, smart trading, and timely building to outmaneuver your opponents and claim victory in Hell!
Our Story
Greetings, infernal adventurers! I'm David, a board game enthusiast and maker based in Washington, DC, and I'm thrilled to introduce you to Cattlers of Satan! What started as a playful joke quickly evolved into a passion project that I've now spent over a year and half developing.
In the fall of 2023, my wife and I embarked on a journey to create a limited first run of Cattlers of Satan. Each game was meticulously crafted, with laser-cut wooden boards and hand-painted components. While the results were stunning, the process was incredibly time-consuming and we were only able to make 14 sets. Despite this, the overwhelming joy and excitement from players who experienced the game fueled my determination to make it more widely accessible.
